It's a quiet day here at the Firemark house.  Thank God.  Lily is finally napping, and I have a little time to write while Gordon and Nate share a snack. I've been working on updating my website so that even more fabulous clients can find me, and I realized just how *content* I am in these moments. Just to hang out, either all of us doing our own thing, or doing something together.  Family time in our house doesn't usually involve a big outing somewhere or even a planned activity.  It's organic, unplanned, and still beautiful.

It's also our seventh wedding anniversary.  (Happy Anniversary, Gordon! Love you!)

Of course, this contentment doesn't mean that there isn't lots to do.  Currently the counter is covered with drying dishes, and the dining room is piled high with clean laundry to be folded.  And the laundry has been there for DAYS.....  Any parent can tell you that there is always lots to do, and that there never seems to be enough time to do it.  I think the key to my current state of contentment is perspective.  As much as I'd love to have my house be clean all the time, with two toddlers it isn't very realistic unless I'm ignoring something more important, like feeding my kids or showering or something.  So I've had to learn to relax and appreciate toddler time.  If I'm folding laundry, they want to help, and it takes twice as long.  Or it doesn't get done at all. I can choose to hate it or I can embrace what comes along with it.

For now, I'm content to let the laundry stay there for a little bit longer while I go join the boys downstairs for a snack.
